SPADRA RANCH LAND DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
SURVEY RECORD RESEARCH
Prior to heading out in the field preliminary land record research was conducted through the use of Los Angeles County's Public Works Land Records GIS Site. We gathered records of surveys, parcel maps, and corner records with the goal of using the information to establish the right of way of Pomona Blvd in order to establish a preliminary record boundary.
FIELD DATA
Our team is proud to have gone out to the field and collected our own data.
We started off by setting 26 ground control points, then conducting a 3-minute GNSS RTK survey. Lastly, the DJI Phantom 4 Drone was used to perform a photogrammetric survey.
POST PROCESSING
Trimble Business Center was used to process the 26 ground control points collected from the RTK Survey. Bentley Context Capture was then used to assign the 728 photos from the aerial survey to their designated coordinate. Finally, the photos were able to be stitched together and processed to produce the site's orthophoto.
TOPOGRAPHIC MAP
With the orthophoto and digital elevation model (DEM) generated it was time to create our existing AutoDesk Civil 3D surface. Because of the level of detail of the DEM we needed to filter it down or else Civil 3D would not be able to handle. We used the Virtual Surveyor software as a way to reduce our DEM into points and breaklines that were imported into Civil 3D to generate a surface as shown below.
